LATTA STATEMENT REGARDING GENERAL PETRAEUS AND EMBASSADOR CROCKER TESTIMONY TO CONGRESS

Wednesday April 9, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement after General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker delivered testimony to Congress this week.

“In light of General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker’s testimony, it is clear that a pre-mature withdraw of troops from Iraq would be irresponsible and could create a more dangerous environment for our troops that they have fought so hard to secure.  The Democratic leadership of Congress can no longer deny that the security situation in Iraq is improving, in addition to the progress the Iraqi government has made.”

“Our troops need the continued support of Congress to complete their mission, including an upcoming clean supplemental bill and a responsible plan to continue to bring our troops home while maintaining stability in Iraq.”
