Visiting Washington, D.C.

Visiting Washington, D.C. is a great opportunity to witness our government in action and stand right where our Founding Fathers once stood. You can walk the halls of Congress, tour the White House, and visit monuments and memorials dedicated to great American leaders and heroes. For many families and individuals, a trip to Washington, D.C. is a once in a lifetime experience. As your Congressman, I want to ensure you have the information and ability to view as many of these sites as possible. 

Because many of the tours operate under a first-come, first-serve basis, I encourage you to contact my office several months prior to your visit so we may successfully accommodate your tour request.

Tours around Washington are generally available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Once your request form is submitted, my office will begin the process of requesting tours.

Guidance on requesting tours:

While my office will work hard to accommodate every tour request, we cannot guarantee all tour request outcomes. Most tours cannot be requested more than four months in advance and White House tours no more than three months in advance. During peak tour season, which is March through August, space is very limited, and it is recommended you place your requests four months prior to your visit.

School and large groups:

For all visiting schools and groups of 50 or more, please contact my office directly at least five months before your intended trip dates for assistance in scheduling tours. Multiple sites can only accommodate large groups with the assistance of my office. 

Available tours:

  • White House [Tours available Tuesday through Saturday, excluding Federal Holidays, from 8am -12:30pm] Please contact our office at least three months in advance of your visit to request a tour. 
  • United States Capitol [Tours available from 9 A.M. - 3 P.M. Monday through Saturday, excluding Federal holidays. You can request a Capitol tour through my office here or by visiting the U.S. Capitol Visitors website herePlease request a Capitol tour at least three weeks in advance of your visit. 
  • Supreme Court U.S Supreme Court is open to self-guided tours. You can enter off the Street without tickets.
  • The Library of Congress [TIMED ENTRY: Every Library of Congress visitor, regardless of age. Timed-entry passes may be reserved here in order to maintain safe capacity levels in the Thomas Jefferson Building.] 
  • The Pentagon [Public access currently suspended]
  • The National Archives [Open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are not required.]
  • United States Department of the Treasury [Open to the public]
  • Bureau of Engraving and Printing (The "Mint") [Public access currently suspended]
