Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement following his support of a bill that passed the House of Representatives today to prevent the increase in student loan interest rates:

“I am pleased that the House passed legislation to prevent the rates on new subsidized Stafford loans from increasing to 6.8% on July 1^st.  Instead, interest rates for new subsidized Stafford loan borrowers will be maintained at the lower interest rate of 3.4% through June 30, 2013.  This is an important provision to assist Americans who are struggling with the rising costs of higher education.”
