Washington, August 4, 2014 | Sarah Criser (202-225-6405)

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) has invited U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Karl Jansen, to tour various sites along the Blanchard River and examine flooding issues throughout the area from 2:45 p.m. to 6 p.m on Wednesday, August 6. Congressman Latta continues to work diligently with the Army Corps to address flooding issues in Findlay and Ottawa, and this tour will build upon previous efforts to ensure continued progress on the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project.

“The continued advancement of the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project is critical to the safety and economic growth of our area,” said Latta. “I have been pleased with the Corps’ willingness to work with us to ensure this project moves forward in an expedited manner and look forward to touring the Blanchard River with Lieutenant Colonel Jansen, so he can see how vital the completion of this project is to our area firsthand.”

"I look forward to visiting historically flooded communities near the Blanchard River with Congressman Latta, and communicating my responsibility to our fellow citizens to complete this important study with a sense of urgency and sound engineering," said Lieutenant Colonel Jansen.

Media is invited to attend the tour, but must RSVP to Sarah Criser. Those wishing to participate in the Findlay portion of the tour should meet in the main lobby of Findlay City Hall, located at 318 Dorney Plaza, no later than 2:45 p.m. Those wishing to participate in the Ottawa portion of the tour should meet at the north end of the I-9 bridge no later than 5:00 p.m.
