Michael Garver Oxley Post Office Dedicated in Findlay

Washington, October 28, 2016 | Drew Griffin (202-225-6405)
The Findlay Post Office was officially named the Michael Garver Oxley Memorial Post Office in a ceremony this morning at the Marathon Performing Arts Center in Findlay. The dedication included remarks from Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), who authored the legislation to name the post office after the late Congressman, and a representative from the United States Postal Service. The joint ceremony also included the naming of a portion of U.S. Route 30 as the Congressman Michael G. Oxley Memorial Highway. State Representative Robert Sprague, the legislator that introduced that legislation, spoke as well. Congressman Oxley’s son, Elvis, also gave remarks.

“Everyone that uses the post office in Findlay will now see the name of a dedicated public servant, Michael Garver Oxley,” said Latta. “The naming of this post office and local highway are fitting tributes for a Findlay native that served on behalf of his community in Columbus and Washington for three decades. It was an honor to be a part of this special day and remember the life and achievements of Congressman Oxley.”

Congressman Oxley, a Findlay native, served over thirty years in the Ohio House of Representatives and U.S. Congress where he rose to become the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee. Rep. Oxley passed away earlier this year.
