Tax Reform Survey
It's been 31 years since the last time our tax code has seen significant reforms. In that time, our tax system has become a complicated mess. Paying taxes often requires software, accountants, or even lawyers to comply. That's not a code meant for the middle class and small businesses to succeed. As Congress works on tax reform, I want to hear about your priorities when it comes to fixing our broken tax code.
If the average middle-class family received nearly $1,200 a year more under the House tax reform proposal, is that legislation you would support?
Yes, I support legislation that allows middle class families to keep more of what they earn.
No, I believe middle class families should pay less in taxes, but $1,200 is too much of a tax cut.
No, Congress should not cut taxes for the middle class.
I'm not sure.
Should tax reform provide relief by reducing rates and eliminating loopholes and deductions?
Yes
No
Would you support tax reform legislation that allowed 9 out of every 10 families to file their taxes on a form the size of a postcard?
Yes
No
Currently, U.S. businesses are subject to the highest tax rates in the industrial world. Under the House tax reform plan, U.S. companies would be subject to rates similar to what their foreign competitors face. Would you support legislation that allows Ohio businesses to better compete with foreign companies?
Yes
No
Overall, if you knew that the House tax reform plan would provide tax relief for middle class families and small businesses, would simplify the tax filing process, and would create nearly 36,000 jobs in Ohio -- is that legislation you would support?
Yes
No
