LATTA APPLAUDS HOUSE REPUBLICAN BUDGET ALTERNATIVE

Washington, April 1, 2009 | David Popp ((202) 225-6405)
Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), a member of the House Committee on the Budget, made the following statement after House Republicans introduced their budget alternative today.
“Simply put, President Obama’s budget proposal taxes too much, spends too much, and borrows too much.  Last week’s Budget Committee hearings shed light on the outrageous spending proposal that we as a country cannot afford, in addition to increasing the federal deficit by trillions of dollars that our future generations will be forced to pay for.

House Republicans, under the guidance of Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan, identified the need for an alternative plan for consideration and I am proud to support this bill.  The House Republican plan is a responsible spending alternative that cuts taxes, creates much needed jobs, and works to reduce the sky-rocketing deficit.  The American people have asked Congress repeatedly to get serious about the way we spend taxpayer dollars and this plan is just one of the ways House Republicans are heeding those concerns.
