LATTA STATEMENT ON DEMOCRAT MOTION TO ADJOURN

Democrat Leadership Files Motion to Adjourn Without Considering Comprehensive Energy Reform

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement today after voting against the Democrat Leadership motion to adjourn for August recess.

“Today’s motion to adjourn is just another example that shows how out of touch the Democrat Leadership of Congress is with the American public.  By failing to consider or pass meaningful, comprehensive energy reform, the Democrat Leadership is saying that $4.00 a gallon gasoline and skyrocketing energy costs for American manufacturing facilities and farmers are okay.  With no session scheduled until September 8th, the American public will continue to suffer at the expense of the Democrat Leadership,” Latta said today after voting against the adjournment resolution.

“I, along with all of my Republican colleagues, voted against the resolution to signify that we are willing to stay and work through August to pass meaningful, comprehensive energy reform that the American public has asked us for so desperately.  We believe that our Republican Conference has provided this in the American Energy Act, of which I am a proud co-sponsor,” Latta added.
