LATTA ANNOUNCES U.S. MILITARY SERVICE ACADEMY APPLICATION TIMELINE

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) is pleased to announce he is accepting applications for nominations to the United States Military Service Academies.  Applications for the 2009 academic year will be accepted for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point. 

Candidates residing in Ohio’s 5th Congressional District who are interested in seeking a nomination to one of the four military service academies must meet the following basic requirements:
Must be at least 17, but not yet 23 years-of-age by July 1st of year of admission to the academy
Must be a citizen of the United States
Must be unmarried
Cannot be pregnant or have legal obligation to support a child or other dependents
Must meet the medical, physical, and academic requirements of the Academy

Interested candidates may obtain an application from Congressman Latta by calling his office at 1-800-541-6446.  Completed applications must be postmarked by September 30, 2008.

Congressman Robert Latta was elected in a special election in 2007 to serve Ohio’s 5th Congressional District.  He is a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, in addition to serving on the House Energy Action Team (H.E.A.T).  Congressman Latta previously served as a member of the Ohio General Assembly and as a Wood County Commissioner.
