Congressman Latta
This week, I am honored to join House Republican Conference Leadership and my colleagues on the House Republican American Energy Solutions Group Energy Summit Tour. Yesterday, I attended the House Republican Conference American Energy Solutions Group Summit in Indianapolis, Indiana and today we will hold a similar summit in San Luis Obispo, California.
As a member of the American Energy Solutions Group, I am working with other Members to highlight the flawed Cap and Trade (Tax) proposal that is currently under debate in the House of Representatives. These energy summits allow us to take our message across the country and promote our "all of the above" energy plan that will lower the United States' dependency on Middle-Eastern oil, expand the exploration and recovery of our own natural resources, and promote alternative energy. Simply put, the United States cannot afford the projected energy cost increases within the Cap and Tax bill, which could be as high as $3,100 per year for the average American family. In addition to the projected energy cost increases, we will suffer heavy job loss in areas such as Ohio's Fifth District because the manufacturing base that employes our friends, family, and neighbors relies on baseload energy to produce their products. With increased energy costs, manufacturers will be forced to make tough decisions on whether or not to seek production overseas where energy costs are traditionally lower. As we continue to take our message directly to the people, I would encourage you to follow my updates here on my website in addition to my social media outlets found under the "spotlight" section of my website.
