Latta Statement on House Republican Meeting with President Obama

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement today after House Republicans met with President Obama at the White House about the debt ceiling:

“I thank the President for the invitation and opportunity to have a dialogue with House Republicans. However, last night’s failure to pass a debt limit increase is a clear signal that the Administration needs to abandon their unreasonable approach of raising the debt limit without spending reforms. Under President Obama the debt limit has increased by $2.979 trillion, for a total of $14.3 trillion debt; this type of spending is unsustainable.

I look forward to seeing the President’s debt ceiling plan, one that I hope will address the drivers of our debt without raising taxes and helps create jobs in America.”

Late Tuesday night, Congressman Latta voted not to raise the debt limit, along with 318 other Members of Congress.
