Latta Statement Recognizing Constitution Day
Washington,
September 16, 2011
Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) made the following statement in recognition of Constitution Day: “Today we reflect upon the rights and liberties that are innate in all of us and how blessed we are as American citizens to have them guaranteed by the United States Constitution. It was two hundred twenty-four years ago, on September 17, 1787, that an assembly of farsighted patriots, after four long and hard months of discussion and debate, came together and signed the Constitution, creating the framework for our great country and a beacon for the rest of the world. “In celebration of today’s observance, I encourage Americans to read this great document. Familiarizing ourselves with the Constitution pays tribute to the ideals of our founders and unites us through a common understanding of our intricate system of limited government.” Since 2007, Congressman Latta has distributed pocket-sized Constitutions to high school government classes throughout the Fifth Congressional District. |
