Latta Announces Congressional Art Competition Winner

Today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) announced Chloe Schmitz, a junior from Gladys Aylward School for Girls in Perrysburg, as the winner of the 2012 Fifth District Congressional Art Competition.

“It is a distinction to display Chloe’s collage in Washington, D.C. to represent our district in the halls of Congress,” Congressman Latta said.

In June, Chloe’s collage “My Purple Harp” will be exhibited in the Capitol Tunnel, which is walked by thousands of visitors and staffers.

Additionally, this year’s honorable mentions are:

  • Sara Clark of Bowling Green High School. Her pastel painting entitled “Spirit of Childhood” will be displayed in Congressman Latta’s Bowling Green office;
  • Trevor Rice of Liberty Center High School. His charcoal painting entitled “Reflections of the Outside” will be displayed in Congressman Latta’s Defiance office; and
  • Rebecca Wilson of Bowling Green High School. Her pencil painting entitled “Shading Arizona” will be displayed in Congressman Latta’s Norwalk office.

There were nine schools represented in the competition and members of Owens Community College’s art department judged the artwork.
