BOWLING GREEN, OH – Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH-5) has been in contact with the Department of Veterans Affairs to convey his displeasure and obtain updates related to an administrative error that resulted in hundreds of Ohio veterans not receiving their GI education benefits at the beginning of the academic year.

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH-5) has been in contact with the Department of Veterans Affairs to convey his displeasure and obtain updates related to an administrative error that resulted in hundreds of Ohio veterans not receiving their GI education benefits at the beginning of the academic year.  Additionally, Latta has been in contact with the President of Bowling Green State University, Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D., and has maintained constant communication with her staff to coordinate efforts to ensure that these veterans receive the benefits that they have earned and efforts to provide bridge funding until the VA error is remedied.  Any student veteran having issues with obtaining his or her GI education benefits can contact Congressman Latta’s office by calling (800) 541-6446 for additional assistance.

Congressman Latta commented by saying, “Our veterans’ educational benefits should not be put at risk due to a bureaucratic error.  These men and women have faithfully served our country and distinguished themselves through their service and the least our government can do is make certain that they receive the benefits they were promised on time.  I am proud to continue to work with BGSU to ensure that this problem is rectified quickly and look forward to following-up with the VA so this type of senseless error doesn’t happen again.”
