Latta Joins Annual March for Life Rally

Hosts post-rally reception for over 400 constituents

Washington, DC, January 25, 2013 | Laura Strange (202-225-6405)

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) joined the 40th National March for Life event in Washington, DC. Following the rally, Latta hosted a Congressional reception for over 400 constituents who attended the pro-life rally earlier today.

“Throughout my years in public service, I have worked to protect one of the most fundamental human rights – the right to life,” Latta said. “As this year marks the tragic 40 year anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, I am proud to stand with the pro-life community and take part in the National March for Life. I firmly believe that we must be vigilant in protecting those who cannot protect themselves – the unborn.  I will continue to work to enact policies that defend the sanctity of life and protect the right of conscience for all Americans.”

Congressman Latta is a co-sponsor of the following pieces of pro-life legislation introduced during the 113th Congress:

H.R. 23 – Sanctity of Human Life Act (Paul Broun, R-GA) – Declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human and is the person's paramount and most fundamental right.

H.R. 217 - Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act (Diane Black, R-TN) – Mandates that no funds provided under Title X can be awarded to entities that perform, or provide funds to another entity that performs, abortions, such as Planned Parenthood.

H.R. ## – Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act of 2013 (Trent Franks, R-AZ) – Bans sex-selection abortion and race-selection abortion in the United States, attempting to break new ground in the legal battle to save innocent life by applying civil rights to the unborn - for the first time.

H.R. ## – The Telemedicine Safety Act (Steve King, R-IA) – Will prohibit any federal funds provided to an organization for the promotion of telemedicine from being used to provide abortions, and it will prohibit telemedicine abortions from occurring across state lines.

H.R. ## – Homeland Security Respect for Life Act - (Rep Bill Huizenga, R-MI) – This legislation would prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to fund abortions, tracking language that has been applied to the Bureau of Prisons for many years.
