Latta Cosponsors Resolution Calling for the Immediate Release of Pastor Saeed Abedini

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) signed on as an original cosponsor of House Resolution 147, calling for the immediate release of United States citizen Pastor Saeed Abedini. Abedini is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence in Iran for his Christian faith. He was convicted in January for “endangering national security” in Iran. “The trial and imprisonment of Pastor Abedini is very troubling and has raised numerous human rights and religious freedom concerns. Along with his unjust prosecution, we’ve learned this week that Pastor Abedini has once again been refused medical treatment. The U.S. government should exhaust every available option to ensure the safety and immediate release of Pastor Abedini,” said Congressman Latta. Latta sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry last month urging for continued diplomatic efforts to secure the immediate and unconditional release of Pastor Abedini.
