The U.S. House of Representatives yesterday passed the Fiscal Year 2014 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs bill. Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement regarding the passage of the bill: “Our veterans have honored their commitments to this nation and it must remain a top priority that we ensure veterans receive the benefits they were promised and have rightfully earned. I strongly supported the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs bill that continues our commitment to veterans, and seeks accountability from the VA.” Included in the legislation is funding to tackle the disability claims processing backlog and provide assistance to homeless veterans. Additionally, the bill contains strict reporting requirements to track the performance of each regional office that processes VA disability claims. The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill was approved by a vote of 421-4.
