Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement today regarding his support for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 1797), a bill to prohibit abortions 20 weeks after fertilization, which is during the second trimester: “The graphic accounts from the recent Gosnell trial brought to light the brutality and painful nature of abortion. The public and jury in the Gosnell case have rightfully condemned the abortionist, but the horrific and painful actions he inflicted on babies born alive after botched abortions are tragically performed on unborn children every day in the U.S. I believe that one of the most fundamental principles of our laws is to protect the defenseless, especially the unborn, and I will continue to be an unyielding supporter of H.R. 1797, and other legislation that affirms the sanctity of human life.” ### |
