Today, U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), and Congressman Bob Latta (OH-5) released the following statement after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) meeting on the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project (BRFRMP) in Findlay, Ohio. "We appreciate the Army Corps Buffalo District meeting with local stakeholders this week about the schedule for completion of the Chief's Report now that the federal funds are secured,” Portman, Brown and Latta said. “It is important that the Army Corps of Engineers and all stakeholders work together to complete the study as soon as possible. The Ottawa and Findlay communities are ready to move forward into the next stage and address the flooding. The Army Corps’ current estimate for the completion of the Chief's Report is unacceptable. We will continue to work with the Corps to ensure the report is completed in a timely manner.” Portman, Brown and Latta have teamed up multiple times to ensure funding for the BRFRMP. In March 2014, Portman, Brown, and Latta announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 2014 Work Plan includes $1.5 million for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District to complete its Chief of Engineer’s Report on the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project. ### |
