Latta Statement Regarding Support of Legislation to Fund DHS

Washington, February 27, 2015 | Sarah Criser (202-225-6405)

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) today issued the following statement after voting in support of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 33, a bill Making Further Continuing Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2015. The bill continues current funding levels for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through March 6, 2015.

“The Federal District Court in Brownsville, Texas, has issued an injunction against the implementation of the President’s executive action, preventing his immigration directives from going into effect. The court ruled that the President and his Administration violated the Administrative Procedure Act and has yet to rule on the constitutionality of the action and the merits of the lawsuit.

“In the interim, we must protect the homeland and fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Today’s vote is a vote to protect America and the American people.”
