Latta Statement on Administration's Latest Attempt to Discourage American Energy Production

Washington, March 20, 2015 | Sarah Criser (202-225-6405)

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH), member of the of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Energy and Power Subcommittee, today released the following statement regarding the Administration's regulations on hydraulic fracturing on federal lands:

"Today’s final rule by the Department of the Interior is another attempt by this Administration to discourage American energy production by making it more complex and costly to develop U.S. natural resources," said Latta. "American consumers are currently benefitting from the boom of oil and gas production in the United States, and the Energy Information Administration predicts that the average U.S. household will save approximately $750 in gasoline costs this year. While we must ensure oil and gas are produced safely, we must also work to prevent costly and burdensome regulations that will hinder businesses from being able to develop our resources."
