Latta Votes to Override Presidential Veto

Washington, February 2, 2016 | Dan Alfaro (202-225-6405)

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) today voted to override President Obama’s veto of the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015.  The legislation, which eliminates key provisions of Obamacare and stops taxpayer funding for abortion providers, such as Planned Parenthood, was vetoed by the President last month.

“President Obama’s veto made it clear to the American people that he supports dictating their healthcare options and using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion providers,” said Latta.  “Today, Republicans in the House of Representatives stood adamantly opposed to the President’s actions.  Congress will continue to fight against Obamacare and work to provide a healthcare system that puts patients first, and places power over healthcare decisions back into the hands of families and their doctors.  I will also be persistent in protecting women’s access to healthcare and defending those without a voice.  Every unborn life is sacred, and I will continue working with my colleagues to enact policies that stop federal funds to any entity that performs abortions.”
