Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) today released the following statement recognizing Tax Day: “Tax Day is a stark reminder to hardworking Americans of the burden of our current tax code on their daily lives,” said Congressman Latta. “As Mark Twain once famously said, ‘The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.’ This is especially true in 2016, when Americans will collectively spend more on taxes than they will on food, clothing, and housing combined. They will also spend an average of 13 hours preparing their tax submissions as a result of the complicated and convoluted tax code. I remain committed to working with my colleagues to implement a fairer, simpler tax code that will help create a stronger economy, create jobs, and put more of Americans’ hard-earned money back in their pockets.” |
