Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) addressed a Joint Session at Buckeye Boys State on the campus of Bowling Green State University Friday morning. Latta congratulated the high school students for their participation and encouraged them to stay involved in public service and in their communities.
“Programs like Boys State help cultivate the next generation of leaders that will rise to tackle the challenges our country faces," said Latta. "It's inspiring to see the impassioned speeches and robust debate at Buckeye Boys State and know our nation's future is bright. I enjoyed the opportunity to share with the students my experiences in public service and encourage them to stay active in government at all levels."
Buckeye Boys State is an eight-day event sponsored by the Ohio American Legion to help young men learn about local and state governments. Buckeye Boys State is the largest Boys State program in the country with over 1,200 students representing 600 high schools participating annually.
