Latta Hosting Opioid Forum on Monday in Findlay

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) will host a forum about addressing the opioid epidemic on Monday, June 27 at the Winebrenner Theological Seminary on the campus of the University of Findlay. Resource tables will open starting at 5:30 p.m. and the panel discussion will commence at 6:30 p.m. Joining Rep. Latta at the event will be Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Health Director Richard Hodges, and Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Director Tracy Plouck.

Main St. Findlay, OH 45840 When: Monday, June 27, 2016 Resource Tables Available from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Introductory Remarks Will Begin at 6:30 p.m. Background: Approximately 1.9 million Americans are addicted to or abuse prescription opiate-based painkillers. These addictions result in approximately 44 people dying every day from prescription painkillers. There are also nearly three times as many Americans addicted to heroin as a decade ago. In 2014 alone, 2,531 lives in Ohio were lost due to unintentional drug overdoses. Congressman Latta recently joined his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives in passing a package of bills to address the crisis. Latta is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee which has jurisdiction over a majority of the bills aimed at stopping the opioid epidemic. |
