 Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement after the U.S., U.K., and France deployed precision airstrikes to destroy chemical weapons facilities in Syria.
 
“In response to the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons on innocent men, women, and children, the U.S. military launched precision airstrikes last night to destroy chemical weapons facilities in the country. Joined by two of our closest allies, this action affirms the Administration’s stance that the use of these sorts of weapons on innocent populations is unacceptable. For too long, Barshar al-Assad has acted with impunity in the region, and it has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands in Syria’s bloody civil war.
 
“The international community needs to step up and let it be known that the use of chemical weapons must end. That also means applying diplomatic pressure to Assad’s enablers – Iran and Russia.
 
“To the men and women in our military – we are praying for you. Thank you for all you do to serve this country.”
