Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement after the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court decision that struck down an Ohio law restricting government funds to Planned Parenthood.

“Today, a federal appeals court said that Planned Parenthood does not have a right to perform abortions – I completely agree,” said Latta. “With radical abortion policies being passed in the legislatures of states like New York, Vermont, and Rhode Island, it’s never been more important to stand up for the most innocent in our society. This ruling confirms Ohio’s leadership when it comes to protecting innocent life by preventing taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood. This is an important ruling, but our work to pass pro-life policies must continue. Today in the U.S. House of Representatives, Democratic leadership blocked a vote on Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act for the 17^th time this Congress. It’s shameful that this bill will not be given a vote, and my colleagues and I won’t rest in our efforts to bring this bill to the floor.”\

Congressman Latta is a member of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus and recently authored an op-ed on the need to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. He has cosponsored 15 pro-life pieces of legislation this Congress and introduced one, the Protecting the Dignity of Unborn Children Act.
