Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD).

“Elijah Cummings dedicated his life to public service and was a strong advocate for his constituents in Baltimore and the surrounding area. While Elijah was a passionate fighter in Congress, he also was a close friend to many across the political spectrum. He genuinely cared about the people he served with, and that was reflected in his ability to work together with his colleagues on the issues that our country faces. The son of South Carolina sharecroppers, Elijah overcame numerous barriers to reach his position in Congress, and his story rightfully serves as an inspiration to many.

“Marcia and I send our thoughts to his wife, Maya, and their children. His generosity and spirit will be deeply missed in the House of Representatives.”
