Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) provided the following statement: “It is extremely important to remain calm and to engage in good personal hygiene practices in order to do what you can to avoid spreading or contracting illness. Washing your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds and staying home when you are sick are simple things we all can do to help keep ourselves and those around us healthy. “I will continue to maintain my previously scheduled calendar in the Fifth Congressional District and in Washington, D.C.. and my staff and I are following the guidance of the Sergeant at Arms and the state of Ohio. Due to this guidance, all tours of the U.S. Capitol have been canceled until April 1, 2020. Additionally, the White House has suspended all public tours. “Should meeting attendees who have previously scheduled an in-person meeting with either my staff or me need to hold the meeting over the phone, all phone call requests will be accommodated.” Below is the latest notice Congressman Latta and his office will be following from the Sergeant at Arms: In consultation with the Office of Attending Physician and Leadership, effective at 5:00 p.m. on March 12, 2020, the House and Senate Sergeant at Arms have ordered limited access. This limited access is anticipated to remain in effect until 8:00 a.m. April 1, 2020, and is to protect the health and safety of Members, staff and visitors. Capitol Visitor Center: The Capitol Visitor Center will be closed to all tours, including Member and staff led tours. Capitol: The Capitol will only be open to Members, staff and official business visitors. Offices expecting official business visitors will be required to greet those visitors at the South Door Appointment Desk and escort them to and from the meeting. The Capitol will be closed to all tours, including Member and staff led tours. House Office Buildings: The House Office Buildings will only be open to Members, staff and official business visitors.
