Latta: Congress Should Be Working Together, Not Wasting Time on Partisan Fantasies

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) provided the following statement after voting against Speaker Pelosi’s wasteful government spending bill:

“The American people did not elect us to be their voices in the House of Representatives in order to further our own agendas. They elected us to get the work of the People’s House done. They elected us to find meaningful legislative solutions to our nation’s challenges. The legislation Speaker Pelosi brought to the floor for a vote today is nothing but a partisan wish list, filled with items completely unrelated to providing Americans relief from the coronavirus pandemic. Americans are struggling; businesses both large and small are hurting. Instead of trying to push a liberal agenda forward, we need to be united on a path forward that will support those who need it most.

“I voted against this bill because it’s an irresponsible non-starter, filled with anti-work provisions, incentives for illegal immigrants, wholesale election law changes, expansion of marijuana businesses' banking abilities, and comes with a 3 trillion dollar price tag. This bill has no chance of becoming law and will not help us restore our economy. It’s time for the House to return to Washington so we can collaboratively work on legislation, instead of wasting time on partisan fantasies.”
