Today, Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) released the following statement recognizing the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers throughout Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District during National Police Week: “Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect and defend our communities. Even in the face of great danger when it is uncertain if they will return home to their loved ones, they continue to fulfill their duties with professionalism and purpose. “While it’s important to take a moment to thank our police officers for their service during National Police Week, it should also be followed up with action. That’s why I’m proud to help champion legislative efforts in Congress that support our men and women in blue. “To all police officers: thank you for your unwavering dedication and service in the name of public safety.” Latta’s support of pro-police legislation: This evening, the House approved a resolution backed by Latta – H. Res. 363 – to memorialize law enforcement officers killed in line of duty. Latta is also an original cosponsor of the Back the Blue Act of 2023 to increase penalties for criminals who intentionally target law enforcement officers and provide new tools for officers to protect themselves. ### |
