Congressman Latta Applauds Senate Proposal to Reauthorize STELA

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH), Vice-Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Communications and Technology Subcommittee, today released the following statement applauding the U.S. Senate's proposal to reauthorize STELA. Earlier this year, the U.S. House of Representatives passed similar legislation, H.R. 4572, the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act (STELA), to ensure broadcast television programming for more than one million satellite television subscribers.

“The proposal released by the Senate to reauthorize the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act marks an important step forward in advancing this must-pass legislation that will ensure uninterrupted access to broadcast television programming for more than one million satellite television subscribers,” said Latta. "I am pleased that the Senate’s Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act incorporated a provision to eliminate the integration ban, similar to the one I sponsored in the House, and I look forward to a conference committee to work out the differences between the House and Senate bills.”
