Subcommittee to Examine Latta’s Drinking Water Protection Act

Washington, February 3, 2015 | Sarah Criser (202-225-6405)

The Energy and Commerce Committee’s Environment and the Economy Subcommittee has scheduled a legislative hearing on H.R. 212, the Drinking Water Protection Act, sponsored by Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH). The hearing, which will be held Thursday, February 5, at 10 a.m., can be watched online and will feature testimony on the bill from relevant stakeholders.

Latta introduced the Drinking Water Protection Act to help protect drinking water from cyanotoxins produced by harmful algal blooms, which caused a water emergency in Northwest Ohio last August. The bipartisan bill requires the Environmental Protection Agency to develop and submit a strategic plan to Congress for assessing and managing the risks associated with cyanotoxins in drinking water.

The Majority Memorandum, a witness list and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
