Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s “Clean Power Plan” rule announced today: “Despite the lofty rhetoric we heard at this afternoon’s press conference, these new rules are more about this President looking to build a legacy than build a better future. The rules, released under the guise of ‘Climate Change prevention’, will directly impact hardworking families all across Ohio with job losses, and increased energy costs – dramatic increases in some cases. It will stifle economic growth, jeopardize our grid reliability and discourage future investment in our state at a time when we are enduring the slowest economic growth period in a generation. This administration continues to target specific industries with the regulatory overreach of one of its political weapons of choice – the EPA – and it is American working families who are going to bear the burden and heavy costs. I will continue to work in Congress to ensure access to affordable and reliable energy through commonsense policies based on best practices and sound science, not political posturing.” |
