Latta, Daniels Tour 5th District Agriculture Operations

Washington, August 25, 2015 | Dan Alfaro (202-225-6405)

Washington, D.C. – This week, Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) and Ohio Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels toured agricultural sites across Ohio’s Fifth Congressional District, which Latta represents. It is one of the largest agricultural districts in the state, and the top producer of soybeans, corn and wheat.

“We have thousands of farms across our district, and the overly wet season this year had far reaching impacts on our farmers, and the businesses that supply them,” said Latta. “It was important for me to meet with these farmers, and I am very glad Director Daniels once again came out to travel across the District with me to hear their concerns.”

“The agricultural community will continue to be a driving force in our economy, creating jobs, and providing families across the country with a safe, reliable food source. Supporting the industry is essential to the growth of our district, and I will continue my work to promote the policies that ensure their future success.”

“We often talk about how food and agriculture is the number-one industry in the state.  Tours like this are important because they remind us how the work of each individual farmer contributes to that figure,” said Director Daniels. “I always enjoy the opportunity to tour this district with Congressman Latta. I thank him for the opportunity to meet and learn about the work these farmers and agribusinesses are doing.”

Stops on the tour included:
Planson Farms, Stryker
Archbold Equipment, Archbold
Sunnyville Dairy Farm, Deshler
Like Farm, Hamler
