Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s announcement of his executive order to restrict American gun ownership:

“The President has once again used executive order to circumvent the will of the American people. Make no mistake; these actions are yet another attempt by this administration to attack the 2^nd Amendment, and the rights of responsible gun owners across the country. The President’s previous efforts to stifle our constitutional freedoms with ineffective policies have been soundly rejected by Americans and Members of Congress, even those in his own party. While the President’s latest proposal does not go as far as originally reported, it could impact citizens’ privacy and due process by granting federal bureaucrats more power to take away this right from those it deems incompetent. I will continue to closely monitor the Administration’s actions and consider whether legislation is needed to further protect Americans’ constitutional rights.”
