Latta Votes for Bipartisan Defense Funding Bill

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) joined a bipartisan group of his colleagues to approve the annual defense spending bill in a vote Wednesday evening. H.R. 1301, the Fiscal Year 2017 Defense Appropriations Bill, includes critical funding for military readiness and robust troop levels. In addition, the bill provides a 2.1% pay raise for military personnel and ensures full funding of health care benefits for troops, military families, and retirees. The legislation passed by a vote of 371-48.

“With threats continuing to grow around the globe, it’s critical that our military has the resources it needs to keep our country safe,” said Latta. “This legislation will ensure that key readiness programs are fully funded, and that our military force will be outfitted with the equipment upgrades they need to be successful. At the same time, the legislation increases troop pay and funds medical care so that our armed services can continue to attract the best and brightest our country has to offer.”
