Anti-Sexual Harassment Resolution Supported by Latta Passes House

Washington, November 29, 2017 | Drew Griffin (202-225-6405)
A resolution that was cosponsored by Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) requiring anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training for all Congressional employees, including Members of Congress, passed the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon by voice vote. H.Res. 630 also tasks the Committee on House Administration with issuing regulations to ensure compliance and transparency within 30 days of its enactment.

“This is an important step to prevent instances of sexual harassment on Capitol Hill as Congressional staff and Members of Congress will now be required to complete anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training,” said Latta. “It shows that Congress is taking seriously the need to change and improve the policies that protect employees in the workplace. At the same time, this should only be the beginning of this discussion. The taxpayers should not be on the hook for settlements of sexual harassment, and there needs to be increased transparency.”
