Latta Joins Bipartisan Colleagues in Support of the GLRI Program

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) has signed onto a letter sent to the leaders of the House Committee on Appropriations Interior Subcommittee asking that they continue investment in the health of the Great Lakes and support the work being done by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) in the FY 2019 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. The recently released Presidential budget proposed cuts to the GLRI program. GLRI has faced proposed cuts under budgets authored by both the Trump and Obama Administrations. The letter was led by Congressman David Joyce (R-OH) and Congressman Sander Levin (D-MI).

“The Great Lakes are the crown jewel of our region, and it’s important we support efforts that are delivering measurable results in protecting them,” said Latta. “The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative has done tremendous work in just eight years to improve water quality, restore native habitats, and combat invasive species. In Ohio’s 5th Congressional District, the health of Lake Erie is both a qualify-of-life and economic issue, and it's essential that the GLRI program has the resources needed to continue their efforts.”
