Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement after the announcement that President George H.W. Bush has passed away. “There is not a more quintessential American than George Herbert Walker Bush. A Navy pilot in World War II, Ambassador to the United Nations, Director of the CIA, Congressman, Vice President, and President of the United States – George Bush served his country with honor and integrity. “It was an honor to have him in Northwest Ohio when he spoke at Bowling Green State University in 1986. His time in public service was characterized by his honesty, his humility, and his leadership. He guided the United States through the end of the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait. After his administration came to an end, he maintained positive relationships with successive Presidents and was always there to offer advice. "As a nation, we mourn his loss and pray for the entire Bush family. He now joins the love of his life, Barbara, in paradise.” ### |
