Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement on the March jobs report, which showed that the economy added 196,000 jobs. The report also revealed that wages rose by an average of 3.2%, and the unemployment rate held steady at 3.8%, the 12th consecutive month where the unemployment was below 4%. That’s the longest streak in nearly 50 years.

“After a disappointing February, we knew that March’s jobs numbers would tell us a lot about whether a slowdown was on the horizon. Adding 196,000 jobs and hitting 3.2% wage growth shows that there is still room to run in this economy. We’ve now seen the unemployment rate below 4% for the 12th straight month – the longest streak in nearly five decades. These numbers, once again, show the real-life impact of policies passed by a Republican-led 115th Congress and signed into law by President Trump that valued job creation and higher wages. I remain committed to enacting pro-growth legislation and will work with my colleagues to continue our efforts to keep this hot economy going.”
