Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement regarding the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests. Today, the House passed H.Res. 393 in their memory. 

“30 years after the Tiananmen Square protests and the unknown number of deaths at the hands of the Chinese government, we mourn the loss of all innocent life and the human rights abuses that continue in the region today. They died for rights that we take for granted - freedom of speech, freedom of press, the right to peaceably assemble. Today’s resolution is one small part in ensuring their deaths were not in vain and reaffirming our commitment to protecting human rights here and everywhere.”
