TO THE PRESIDENT'S DESK: Latta Co-Led Bill to Protect Americans from Communist China-linked TikTok

The U.S. Senate voted last night to send the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act to the President's desk to be signed into law to protect Americans and U.S. national security from foreign adversaries, including the Chinese Communist Party.

Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH5) co-led the bill in the U.S. House and released the following statement:

"This bipartisan bill is a victory for the American people and the United States' national security. The Chinese Communist Party should not use an app to surveil, target, and manipulate American citizens. With this bill set to become law, TikTok will face a choice: separate from Communist China-controlled ByteDance or shut down in the United States - it's that simple.

"I'm proud to have played a role in shepherding this legislation through Congress - including through the Energy and Commerce Committee. I want to thank the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party for their steadfast leadership on this effort.

"While this is a necessary step to protect our national security, we have much more work to do. Whether it's standing up to military aggression in the Pacific, safeguarding our communications networks from cyber threats, or preventing the acquisition of American farmland - we will not relent in our efforts to curtail Communist China's malign influence in America and around the globe."
