Latta Urges Federal Spectrum Clearing

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), along with four other Members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, sent a letter to President Obama urging him to instruct federal agencies to work together to identify federal airwaves that can be cleared and auctioned for mobile broadband.

“The incentive auctions included in the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 are an important step forward in our Nation’s spectrum policy.  However, additional direction from the President is needed to bring viable federal spectrum to market in order to meet the accelerating demand for mobile data,” said Representative Latta.  Most importantly, “By freeing up much needed spectrum for mobile broadband, innovation, economic investment and job creation will flourish,” the Members wrote.

The letter notes the recent NTIA report on repurposing the 1755-1850 MHz band and can be found here
