Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) released the following statement regarding his support for H.R. 444, the Require A Plan Act. This bill requires the president to put forth a balanced budget or submit a plan that indicates the earliest year he expects the budget to be balanced and the policies he would implement to achieve that balance: “The federal government spends $1 trillion more than it takes in every year and our national debt has surpassed $16 trillion, yet the Senate has not passed a budget in almost four years and President Obama has missed the legal deadline for submitting his budget proposal to Congress for the fourth time in the last five years. To end Washington’s spending binge and protect future generations from mountains of debt, we must have a plan to balance the budget. Hardworking taxpayers balance their budgets, and in Ohio, every level of government has to balance its budget – the federal government should be required to do the same.” ### |
