Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, has introduced, H. Res. 215. This resolution is a strategy to a comprehensive national energy reform plan that includes taking advantage of America’s abundant domestic coal, oil, and natural gas supply; exploring and investing in advanced nuclear technology; expanding use of renewable and alternative energy sources, while promoting conservation and energy efficiency and reducing our dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

“This resolution encourages an “All of the Above” approach to energy, aiming to increase domestic production while reducing dependence on foreign supplies, resulting in greater American energy security and keeping American dollars here,” said Congressman Latta.

Latta has also introduced the Voluntary Verification Program Act, H.R. 1785.  This legislation would require the federal government to recognize voluntary verification programs for air conditioning, furnace, boiler, heat pump, and water heating products to demonstrate compliance with federal energy efficiency and conservation standards and the Energy Star program.

“The Energy Star program has promoted economic expansion and job growth for participating manufacturers across the nation,” said Latta. “This legislation reduces duplicative efforts, encourages energy efficiency compliance, reduces regulatory burdens, and saves taxpayer dollars; all while enhancing market surveillance thanks to robust voluntary verification programs.”
