Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representative’s passed legislation introduced by Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), the VA Appeals Backlog Relief Act, as part of H.R. 677.  This bipartisan legislation will expedite the processing of VA appeals claims.

“Our veterans made incredible sacrifices to defend our great nation, and it is imperative that they receive the timely benefits and care they have earned and deserve.  Unfortunately, bureaucratic red-tape at the VA has forced these veterans to enter into a lengthy and inefficient appeals claims process, forcing many of them to wait years before receiving a final decision,” said Latta.

“This legislation streamlines the VA’s processes by creating a 12-month deadline by which all appeals must be certified to the Board of Veterans Appeals, ensuring the trend of unnecessary delays does not continue. I’d like to thank the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs for including this important legislation as part of H.R. 677.”
