Latta Questions EPA Administrator on Continued, Harmful Regulatory Overreach

Today, during the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s joint hearing between the Energy and Power and Environment and the Economy Subcommittees, Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) questioned U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy regarding the unnecessary and detrimental regulations imposed by the EPA on businesses and their impacts on Americans across the country.

“By lowering the ozone standard last fall, before the 2008 standard has even begun to be implemented, the EPA has continued its pattern of imposing excessive regulations on American businesses, and shown a refusal to focus on achievability or reasonableness,” said Latta. “EPA needs to refocus its efforts on standards that allow the American economy to flourish while also protecting air quality. Instead these misguided regulations harm American businesses by making it harder for them to expand and hire, in turn placing further strains on American families.”
