Medal of Honor Recipient, Senior Chief Edward Byers, Jr., to Join Latta at Presidential Address to Congress

Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) will be joined by Medal of Honor Recipient and Otsego High School graduate, Senior Chief Edward Byers, Jr., at today’s Presidential Address to a Joint Session of Congress. Chief Byers is one of two recipients of the Medal of Honor currently serving on active duty and is the most decorated living Navy Seal. Byers received the Medal of Honor for his actions during a rescue mission of an American citizen, Dr. Dilip Joseph, in Afghanistan in 2012.

“I’m honored that Northwest Ohio native, Senior Chief Byers, will be my guest as the President addresses Congress and the country this evening,” said Latta. “Senior Chief Byers heroically risked his life to save the lives of others in Afghanistan, and he continues to dutifully serve his country. He represents the best our nation has to offer, and his presence is very much welcomed as the President speaks in the people’s house for the first time.”
