Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), a cosponsor H.R. 2519, the American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act, applauded its passage by voice vote in the U.S. House of Representatives this evening. The resolution authorizes the U.S. Mint to issue a commemorative coin in 2019 for a one year period in honor of the 100th anniversary of the organization. The proceeds for the sale of the coins will help support American Legion programs and services.

“The tireless work that the American Legion has undertaken for our nation’s veterans for nearly one hundred years is worthy of our praise and commemoration,” said Latta. “Since 1919, the organization has been an integral part of communities across this country. The minting of a centennial coin will allow veterans to celebrate the rich history of the American Legion while raising funds for the important work they do.”
